Camera Hub G3

FAQ

What is Ark Technology?

Ark technology is a distributed multi-level localized disaster recovery technology in the Aqara smart home system. Currently, Ark technology has been updated to version 2.0. It includes hub local automation capability, multi-hub standby replacement, proxy hub disaster recovery, etc. When cloud servers, Internet, router, hub running faults, it can provide disaster recovery protection against these issues at multiple levels, try to ensure local automation and scenario execution, and enhance the reliability and stability of the Aqara smart home system.

What is proxy hub disaster recovery capability?

When an Aqara hub device (such as the Smart Hub M3, Hub M2, P3 Air Conditioning Companion, G3 Camera, etc., all of which have hub functionality) experiences a malfunction or power outage, and certain connected Zigbee devices under that hub are capable of acting as proxy hubs, those proxy hubs will take over the execution of basic local automations and scenes.

Which devices are currently able to be proxy hubs? (Some of the following products are only available in some countries or regions)

Smart Scene Panel Switch S1 (firmware version required no less than 5.2.6_0559)
Aqara Smart Curtain Motor C3 (firmware version required no less than 0.0.0_0012)
Light Strip T1 (firmware version required no less than 0.0.0_2729)
Smart Light Strip Driver T1 (firmware version required no less than 0.0.0_0024)
Color Ceiling Light T1 (firmware version required no less than 0.0.0_0026)
Aqara Spotlight V1 (firmware version required no less than 0.0.0_0025)
Aqara Smart Wall Outlet H2 (firmware version required no less than 0.0.0_0027)

What are the precautions for proxy hub disaster recovery?

1. Since the disaster recovery of the proxy gateway involves the collaboration between different devices in the entire system, it is necessary to update the firmware of the devices (including the gateway firmware, the proxy gateway firmware, and the firmware of other Zigbee Router devices) to the latest version in order to have good coordination capabilities.
If the firmware of some devices is not up-to-date and does not have the coordination capabilities of Ark proxy gateway technology, it may cause the proxy gateway to fail to trigger and execute some automated scenarios.
2. In addition, proxy gateway disaster recovery technology, as a disaster recovery means in extreme cases, can only support simple automation conditions and actions (such as switch clicks, device opening, device closing, etc.). For some complex automation, there may be situations that cannot be supported.

Why can't I use other AI functions after turning on gesture detection?

After the gesture detection function is enabled, it will take up more hardware computing resources, and can no longer open the face, Personoid and pet detection and related PTZ linkage functions. After closing gesture detection, other AI functions can be used normally.

Why are event messages and alarm videos not reported and recorded after gesture detection is enabled?

The gesture recognition function can be used as an execution condition for automations, and as a lon control of the sub-device is realized by making a specified static gesture in front of the camera. It is an active behavior initiated by the user, and it is not used as an alarm event to report messages and record videos.

What can we do with face detection? How to enable it?

1. face detection can serve as a condition for home security or automation execution, enabling functions such as detecting and reporting alerts for unfamiliar faces or marked faces, triggering automation execution, and more.
2. When using the face detection feature for the first time, the app will guide users to add and synchronize face information to the camera. face data is stored on cloud servers by household unit. Users can synchronize face information to multiple G3 cameras for batch operations, or add and import faces through the device settings - face management interface. Users can actively delete face information, and a factory reset will clear all uploaded face data.

Why are the AI functions unavailable during the firmware upgrade?

In order to ensure the speed and experience of firmware upgrade, the process of AI functions (including face, Personoid, gesture, pet detection) will be interrupted during the upgrade process, so the above-mentioned relevant AI functions cannot be experienced during the upgrade process, and can be used normally after the upgrade is completed.

Can AI function be used in night vision mode?

Gesture, face, Person, and pet detection algorithms all rely on image color information. The video in night vision mode is a grey release image, which will affect the effect of AI detection. It is recommended to experience it only in color mode.

What is the required network bandwidth for the camera?

Aqara Camera Hub uses dynamic bitrate technology to ensure 2K ultra-clear video quality in various conditions. When the camera moves, the maximum bitrate can reach 3.5Mbps. To ensure smooth remote viewing, both upload and download bandwidth should exceed this rate.

Why is it sometimes impossible to control the gimbal to rotate to the maximum rotation position through the APP?

After manually adjusting the position of the gimbal by hand when the device is powered on, it will cause disorder in the memory of the device position. You need to click the one-click calibration function of the gimbal in the Settings-Gimbal Settings to recalibrate the gimbal in order to normally control the gimbal to the maximum position.

Why is it difficult or unable to connect to the network by scanning the QR code?

The camera supports QR code scanning from devices such as smartphones and tablets with a minimum screen size of 4.7 inches. The Wi-Fi network name and password can be up to 32 ASCII characters (including numbers, uppercase and lowercase letters, and special symbols). For optimal scanning, the QR code should be held 8–20 cm from the camera lens.

What is the maximum capacity of the expansion memory card supported by the device? Can MicroSD card recording be performed when the device is disconnected from the network?

1. The camera supports 128GB MicroSD card and supports the exFat and FAT32 formats
2. Yes. After the device connects to the network successfully, the videos to be saved on the MicroSD card can still be recorded in case of any network disconnection, but these videos saved on the MicroSD card cannot be viewed remotely via app.

What is the integrated events label? How do I use it?

1.The associated events label mean that the local video recorded by camera can be marked by different events. For example, if the door and window sensor is enabled or the camera detects any motion, the camera will mark the time and location of this event in the video footage saved in the MicroSD card for further retrieve.
2.Configuration path: “Settings” - “More Settings” - “Alert Setting”, select “Trigger Device” - “Color” - “Save” of the associated events.

How many clients can watch videos on one camera at the same time?

There is no limit to the number of client-side connections. It is recommended that up to 4 users watch at the same time, because the more connections, the more processor resources the device consumes (too many user connections will cause real-time picture lags, delays, etc.).

Why is the local area network control available, but the remote control not after the camera is connected to the HomeKit?

After adding the device to the Apple Home APP, a HomePod or Apple TV (tvOS 11.0 or above) or an iPad (iOS 12.0 or above) that has been set up as the household pivot is required to achieve remote control. Refer to the prompts of Apple Home APP for specific operation.

What kind of brackets does the device support for wall and ceiling mounting?

The Aqara Camera Hub G3 has a standard 1/4" threaded screw hole on the bottom, allowing compatibility with mounts that use a 1/4" screw. Users can choose either an Aqara-recommended mount or any compatible mount that supports this connection for wall or ceiling installation.

How to adjust the video frame after inverted installation of the camera?

Enter the App, click the upper right corner "Settings" - “More Settings” - “Camera Settings” - “Video Settings” - “Installation Methods”, select "Place Upside Down", then the pan-tilt control and video display will work properly.

What kinds of WiFi network does the camera support?

The camera supports 2.4/5GHz dual-band Wi-Fi network, and the Wi-Fi networks with WEP, WPA/WPA2, WPA3, WPA-PSK/WPA2-PSK security and encryption mechanism.

How to use the infrared remote control function?

Using the infrared remote control function, you can add the target appliance to be remotely controlled, and control the appliance through the APP instead of the remote control. If the appliance to be remotely controlled is not in the supported list, you can also learn and add it through "customization". This function only supports adding infrared control type remote controls.

Why can't I control the pan-tilt after integrating the camera with HomeKit?

Apple Home app currently does not support controlling the camera's pan-tilt function.
However, pan-tilt can be controlled via Advanced Matter Bridging on Apple Home.

What is the maximum angle of horizontal and vertical rotation of the gimbal?

The maximum horizontal rotation angle is 340° and the maximum vertical rotation angle is 45° (30° up and 15° down)
